Our Story
The history of the firm is connected to the evolution of Barr & Associates into Better Neighbourhoods (whose engineering needs are now supported by Main Street). Behind our firm is 45+ years experience and hundreds of planning and engineering projects throughout Ontario. These projects range in size from servicing a single lot to a whole neighbourhood. Glenn Barr continues to support Main Street engineering through his extensive experience and impact on the planning and engineering community.
Main Street Engineering offers primarily municipal works for municipalities, and site servicing and grading for development. We work on storm and sanitary sewers including storm water management, water systems, streets and grading. Our clients are municipalities, developers, builders, and architects.
Engineering serves as the guiding force in creating essential components of our built environment through best value principles. Frequently, public works and development servicing is unnecessarily over-designed and financially wasteful. Barr & Associates, and thereafter Better Neighbourhoods, developed a reputation for minimizing unnecessary infrastructure and cost. Main Street Engineering proudly continues that philosophy.
There are no aesthetics in civil engineering – one pipe looks like the next and upon completion, civil engineering is not seen. The cost efficiency and quality of the work is what holds the most impact.

Adam is a Senior Municipal Engineer with twenty-four years of experience in design, contract administration and project management of municipal and land development projects. He brings extensive knowledge of water treatment, water distribution, stormwater management, wastewater collection and land development.
Florian is originally from Bordeaux, France and moved to Canada in 2015. Florian completed a Masters in Civil Engineering (with public works emphasis) and his areas of interest are municipal engineering, structural engineering, BIM Technology, drafting and surveying. Florian is excited to contribute to designing thriving cities.
If you’re from the Niagara Region, chances are you know Glenn Barr. He has worked more than 50 years to improve our local neighbourhoods, challenge the establishment, and contribute to the development of many of the most sought-after properties in the Region.
